CO2 Coalition Names Angela Wheeler Executive Director
FAIRFAX, Va. – Angela Wheeler has been named Executive Director of the CO2 Coalition, a prominent voice in a global climate realism movement that is reversing policies harmful to economies and people and of no environmental value.
Wheeler succeeds Gregory Wrightstone, who has served in the top position since January 2021 and will continue with the organization as a Senior Fellow. Wheeler previously served as Coalition Vice President, Marketing and Multimedia, having joined the CO2 Coalition in August of 2022. Her promotion is effective April 1.
“Angela Wheeler has the experience and talent to lead and further develop an already strong organization,” said Dr. William Happer, Chairman of the CO2 Coalition. “Her commitment to our mission is indisputable and her working relationships with Gregory Wrightstone and the rest of the staff are strong. The organization is set up for much success.”
“I am honored and excited to accept this role and build on our momentum,” said Wheeler. “We will continue to communicate the essential benefits of CO₂ for life, agriculture, and global greening, promote rigorous science in policy, and advance education initiatives that counter alarmist narratives.”
Wheeler has led the CO2 Coalition’s development of printed and electronic materials for educators and students as well as the organization’s outreach through social media and conferences. Prior to her tenure at the Coalition, Wheeler managed marketing and publications for Capitol Media Group and the Free Congress Research and Education Foundation, both of Washington, D.C. She has a bachelor’s degree in communication from Emporia State University.
As senior fellow, Wrightstone will focus on working with the science staff, writing, researching and speaking about climate and energy.
“Helped by an energetic staff and an active membership, it has been my honor to lead the CO2 Coalition through a period of exceptional growth,” said Wrightstone. “We have seen a sixfold increase in membership, to more than 200 volunteer scientists and researchers of various disciplines, and a hundredfold increase in the donor base. I look forward to supporting Angela and the rest of the organization in carrying out our important work.”
Founded in 2015, the CO2 Coalition educates thought leaders, policymakers and the public about the role of carbon dioxide in nature as it generates informed, dispassionate discussion of climate change, humans’ role in the climate system, the limitations of climate models and the likely consequences of policy proposals.
