James E Dukett

B.A. Chemistry

James E. “Jed” Dukett earned a B.A. in Chemistry in 1994 and an M.L.S. in Administration and Leadership in 2006, both from State University of New York at Plattsburgh. Jed worked for the Adirondack Lakes Survey Corporation (ALSC) for over 27 years. He served as a chemist, laboratory manager, and program manager/executive director. Over a rewarding career with ALSC, Jed co-authored numerous publications and presentations. In 2019, ALSC staff made national news by identifying brook trout in an Adirondack High Peaks waterbody that the organization had monitored for several years, marking a triumphant recovery from acid deposition.

Jed was the corresponding author of a key acid rain recovery publication, Increases in Dissolved Organic Carbon Accelerate Loss of Toxic Al in Adirondack Lakes Recovering from Acidification. He is also the primary author of the article Progress toward clean cloud water at Whiteface Mountain, New York. Before retiring from ALSC in 2020, Jed wrote an internal document for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Fisheries Unit that classified and targeted Adirondack brook trout waters based on chemistry to help guide restocking efforts.

Jed is an avid baseball and hockey fan and the author of the 2023 publication JACKS: The Most Incredible Home Run Seasons in MLB History.
