Gregory Wrightstone to Become Senior Fellow with the CO2 Coalition
Release: Immediate
January 7, 2026
FAIRFAX, Va. – Gregory Wrightstone will assume the position of Senior Fellow at the CO2 Coalition after leading the organization through a period of extraordinary growth.
Wrightstone will continue to serve as Executive Director until a replacement is found.
Since assuming the role of Executive Director five years ago, Wrightstone has overseen a sixfold increase in the CO2 Coalition’s membership, to nearly 200 volunteer scientists and researchers of various disciplines, and a hundredfold increase in its donor base. To reach an audience of policymakers, educators, students and the public, there has been a commensurate increase in scientific reports, commentaries, educational materials and legal briefs.
“Greg’s creative energy and vision have been transformational for the organization’s influence with a wide range of people,” said Dr. William Happer, Chairman of the CO2 Coalition’s Board of Directors and one of its founders.
“The honest empirical and theoretical analysis of climate-related issues that Greg and his team have done – with the support of a very active membership – will have a lasting effect in formulating sound public policy. Greg will be even more impactful in his new role as Senior Fellow, without the distractions of day-to-day management obligations in Washington, D.C. There is much yet to accomplish. I look forward to continued work with Greg.”
“It has been my honor to work closely with our Chairman, Dr. William Happer, who has provided invaluable guidance in keeping the organization firmly focused on science,” said Wrightstone. “I will be always grateful for the opportunity to have led an organization so instrumental in advancing the public conversation from climate ‘crisis’ to climate realism.”
As Senior Fellow, Wrightstone will focus on working with the science staff, writing, researching and speaking about climate and energy.
Founded in 2015, the CO2 Coalition educates thought leaders, policymakers and the public about the role of carbon dioxide in nature as it generates informed, dispassionate discussion of climate change, humans’ role in the climate system, the limitations of climate models and the likely consequences of policy proposals.
