Description

The CO2 Coalition is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Development & Events Associate to manage our organization’s participation in external events, facilitate the Coalition’s hosted events, and assist the Chief Development Office in growing the size and scope of development work. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in development, events planning and administrative support.

The CO2 Coalition is a small non-profit established in 2015 as a 501(c)(3) for the purpose of educating thought leaders, policy makers, and the public about the important contribution made by carbon dioxide to our lives and the economy. The Coalition seeks to engage in an informed and dispassionate discussion of climate change, humans’ role in the climate system, the limitations of climate models, and the consequences of mandated reductions in CO2 emissions. The applicant must understand and support this mission.

Skills and Qualifications

The Development and Events Associate will be responsible for communicating with donors, partner organizations and company executives during the event planning process, meaning that communications and decision-making skills are paramount.

Specific skills that all candidates should possess include:

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, & Power Point)
  • Previous successful experience in an office environment
  • Previous successful experience in event planning
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively interact with Board members, donors and the public
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Duties and Responsibilities

The core duties and responsibilities revolve around supporting others. The job duties can vary widely, so staff are expected to be versatile. On any given day, you may perform a variety of tasks, such as:

Events

  • Manage conference registration, space assignments, utilities, furniture, and set up
  • Manage packing and shipping of materials to and from conferences
  • Coordinate with CO2 Coalition conference attendees about logistical details
  • Staff the exhibit booth when needed and provide educational materials to attendees
  • Organize Coalition-sponsored receptions, luncheons, and conferences around the country

Development

  • Assist in the design and editing of development communications campaigns
  • Research individual donors and prospective foundations
  • Assist the Chief Development Officer in:
    • the designing and ordering of promotional marketing items for donors
    • direct mail production and results tracking with relevant reports
    • entering donation information into Salesforce or applicable CRM
    • creating mailing lists in Salesforce or applicable CRM

Publications

  • Assist the Senior Vice President with the procurement of reports & printed materials through a competitive bidding process

Outreach

  • Assist the Senior Vice President with projects that promote our message and mission

Requirements

·        1-3 years of experience

·        Alignment with and passion for the Coalition’s mission and work is important

·        Bachelor’s degree

·        Proven track record of successful teamwork and interaction with superiors

·        Solid skills in organization and record-keeping

·        Travel outside of the Washington area is expected

·        Duties are not confined to normal business hours

Compensation

This position is structured as a full-time position with benefits. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Benefits include:

The office dress code is business casual, but a few appointments may require formal business attire.
