CO2 Coalition Urges President Trump to Form Presidential Commission on Climate Change
recently proposed establishing a presidential commission to review the scientific basis for claims that our national security is being threatened by climate change. The letter noted the following:
“There has been NO increase in the rate of sea-level rise and the number of droughts, hurricanes, cyclones, or other extreme weather events compared to the first half of the 20th century, when carbon dioxide was insufficient to be a factor in warming,” the scientists wrote. “You and the public deserve to know why these predictions of catastrophe have continually failed to come true. That is what a presidential commission on climate science can do. “Dr. Happer was one of the founders and a key leader of our organization, the CO2 Coalition of atmospheric physicists, ecologists, geologists, climatologists, agronomists, ocean specialists, statisticians, and energy economists who educate the public on climate science and climate economics. We believe we are in a unique position to assess his qualifications to guide the work of the proposed commission.”The letter was signed by twenty-eight members of the CO2 Coalition. Dr. Caleb Rossiter, Executive Director of the CO2 Coalition, said: “Contrary to what Democrats in the House claimed at a hearing today, Dr. Happer is indeed a climate scientist, and a distinguished one at that. He is an emeritus professor in atmospheric physics at Princeton, where he has done pioneering work in spectroscopy, a key component of atmospheric warming.” The letter can be downloaded at this link: Happer support letter to President Trump]]>
