Edward M. Bohn, Ph.D.
About The Member:
Dr. Edward Bohn is a research engineer and energy technology entrepreneur. He was a nuclear reactor research scientist at Argonne National Laboratory in the 1970s where he led experimental research programs on full-scale, low power plutonium-fueled breeder reactors.
He joined TRW, Inc. in the 1980s as this major aerospace company was forming an energy technology group in response to the “energy crisis.” He was appointed Director for Planning and New Business Ventures for the TRW Space and Defense Group in 1985 where he developed business plans and strategies, and led discussions for business partnerships both domestically and internationally. He pursued his entrepreneurial interests when he was hired in the 1990s to turn around struggling technology companies including QUEST, Integrated, Inc. (formerly Flow Research), engaged in the development of high pressure fluid technology, and Thermal Conversion Corp, engaged in the development of a plasma reactor for converting wastes into clean energy fuels.
He was the co-founder and first president of Tempress Technologies, Inc, (TTI) of Kent, Washington. TTI specializes in the development of high-pressure drilling tools for the oil and gas industry. TTI successfully produced a highly efficient fracking tool that became part of the oil shale revolution in North America. The company was sold to Oil States International in 2012.
Dr. Bohn received his BS in Engineering Physics from University of Illinois in 1963 and his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering in 1968. He also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.
